The very name of our state is derived from the Indian word Michigama, meaning great or large lake. So while our beautiful Great Lakes hold us, bountiful inland lakes make Michigan a true water wonderland.
Lakefront living provides a peaceful refuge. Living steps from the water’s edge provides all the best sights, and sounds, nature has to offer. Waterfront living beckons coastal design; this style commands all the best emotions one feels amidst a relaxing vacation day.
The Omega Home Studio team was asked to complete a remodel that signaled to our designer that this slice of lakeside heaven already felt the coastal design in its bones. From the floor-to-ceiling windows facing their tranquil northern Kent County lake to the painted vaulted ceiling, finished with a wispy shade of sky blue; the perfect space for experiencing the four Michigan seasons.
Our task: extend the design from their cheery, open-concept kitchen into the remaining space. A new primary ensuite, a second bedroom, a guest bath, and main floor laundry. Extending the premier coastal flavor with new paint plus a beautiful and durable ceramic tile floor by Dawson Tile throughout.
Small hexagon tiles were transformed into art in the primary bath, a zero-step/curbless Euro-style walk-in shower with glass enclosure was installed, and all new Showplace Cabinetry provides elegant storage. The new walk-in closet system offers a luxurious home for clothes, shoes, and accessories. The pretty little guest bath is functional and well-appointed. Opening the stairwell elevated the spaciousness of the home and the relaxed “retreat” feeling our clients enjoy.
Our team rallied to complete the project as the homeowners returned from their second southern home. We were delighted to reveal the craftsmanship evident at every turn.
As winter gave way to spring, birds danced and sang above the sun-drenched deck, announcing the release of the icy grip of the lake water as we wrapped up another great project.
